A space free from noise and external distraction is very crucial to get significant results. While practicing at home, you may choose a time where no household materials or family members disturb you. Let them sleep or gone away home. Sole point here is clam and quietness.

When you plan to practice astral projection, go to bed at least one hour before your usual sleep. And don’t practice it when you are very sleepy and waiting for a pillow to sleep. Never practice when you are absolutely tired either mentally or physically. You will not able to concentrate your mind when you are tired out of hard work. Control your diet and avoid heavy foods like meat and dairy products. This requires more energy for metabolism.

Lay flat on your bed and looking up and lay your hands close to your body. Look straight up and stretch your arms up. If you are falling asleep your body will fell down so that you can wake up. Put your bed and pillow properly and assure a comfortable lying.

This is a non-scientific theory that attempts to explain the perceived effects of meditation and subsequent 'out of body experiences'. While the methods outlined here can certainly bring about the effects of the phenomenon described, there are several other theories that also attempt to explain them, and it is left to the reader to explore alternatives, and maybe write contrasting Guide Entries.

Astral projection, or an 'out of body experience', is something that all of us, as humans, can do. The simple fact is that we do it unconsciously every night when we dream. This is astral projection at its simplest. But what if you could consciously make decisions within your dreams? You already feel like you're really there when you're dreaming. Just think of those dreams you've had that you're not sure whether they were dreams or not.

The astral plane is a real place. It's kind of like a parallel world where our inner selves, or souls if you like, go to escape the confines of our physical 'shell'. We all travel it but not all of us are aware that we can truly explore this 'other world'. Astral projection is true magic and you don't have to be special to be able to do it; just need a little time and perseverance.

The following entry aims to take you on the first steps to a greater journey. It's worth mentioning here that not everyone believes in the concept of astral projection. After all, a dream is only a dream right? That maybe so, but after reading the following and trying out the methods given, your opinion on that may change.

Yes! We all have built-in censors that filter the sensations we are suppose to feel. With these filters in place, our bodies allow a very limited amount of sensory input. But that's in the physical body. In the astral plane where there is no physical body, the world  and all it's sensations are open to you.

Here, I came across this interesting first-hand account on someone who has experienced colors, sounds, emotions and exceptions in the astral plane. The Filter Factor

We express and experience our higher selves through a filtering process. This filter is our physical body. Unfortunately, this body is grossly limited in comparison to our astral and mental bodies. Just because we cannot currently hear, smell or see things to the same degree as other beings, it does not mean that it isn't there. A dog can hear and smell far more than us, a hawk can see significantly farther than us, radios and televisions can pick up waves and signals that we cannot detect without the proper tools and devices, yet we know they exist. We are so limited!

In the astral, this cumbersome filter is removed thus revealing to us a vast amount of sensory input that we normally do not have access to. To experience the full benefit of having no physical body takes a little practice, but it is well worth it.

Colors:

In our physical body we can only see a small range of colors. I can remember how astounded I was to enter into the astral and perceive a much greater range of colors than I ever had while in the physical. The perception of colors is based on light, and in the higher planes of the astral, objects can radiate (the air for example). On one occasion I left my body and requested: "Take me to a very beautiful place." I immediately was whisked away to a place of such extraordinary beauty and colors that I gasped over and over in disbelief and delight. I am sure that any pastor or priest who had seen this would definitely declare this to be "heaven" for no place on earth looks like this. There were colors that were out of this world. Everything shimmered: the water, the air, everything! It was coursing with life and beauty. Oh, to come back to my body was a sour moment indeed!

Sounds:

I don't recall ever reading about this in any astral projection book, but I was quite surprised to discover that we can hear radio waves while in the magnetic body range! So many times I have left my body, when suddenly I hear music and talking (see my topic called Radio Frequencies under the Commentary link for more details). If I turn a certain way or shift my focus, I can pick up on the different frequencies in perfect clarity. I know this to be real for several reasons; one is that I will hear classical pieces that are too marvelous for me to ever reconstruct in perfect clarity in my own mind, plus I will hear exact words to songs that I only partially know. I also (I believe) transcended time because I've heard gorgeous songs that I know do not exist today. These are not classical or jazz pieces that I'm not familiar with and wouldn't know if they exists, but songs that would be played on a soft rock station today. Gorgeous! If only I could write and sing, I would be quite famous! I also had a recent experience where I was coming out of sleep (the hypnopompic state) and I could again hear a radio. This time I heard the time! It said, "Good morning, it's 8:00 o'clock" and at that exact moment, the downstairs bird clock chimed the black-capped chickadee which represented 8:00 o'clock. This so startled me that I made myself wake up and I looked over at my bedside clock to confirm that it was indeed 8:00 o'clock! Why is this possible? Quite simply because our etheric is also known as the electromagnetic body, and radio frequencies are affected by this.

Sorry I know I've been quiet these couple months, but I'm back with renewed zeal to pick up where I left off! So I've been working on reaching an ideal meditative state for astral travel.

One of the biggest obstacles most astral projection beginners face is the inability to LET GO of negative thoughts before you astral travel. "This isn't working" or "Astral projection doesn't work" or "You must be crazy to even try this" are common thoughts. They are just boulders on your path to astral travel. I've found that the easiest way is by a simple visualization practice.

Here's what I do.

I imagine myself sorting through the thoughts in my head to positive thoughts and negative thoughts. As the negative thoughts get rolled into a black ball, it shrinks and condenses into a tiny black dot that then floats away. The positive thoughts spread out to form a sheet of light that envelopes my physical body. As I breathe and relax, my mind, body, and spirit becomes lighter and lighter and eventually translucent enough to astral travel.

This could take between 5 to 15 minutes every time, but it definitely works for me. Sometimes I mix it up a little bit to keep things interesting, but I like to keep it simple.

In fact, many people have actually experienced at least one astral projection in their lives and while some may be aware of this experience, many people are not.

First, it is a good idea to understand what astral projection is. In simple terms, astral projection is the ability to leave one?s body. Everyone has this ability, and everyone does this at night during sleep. When you are sleeping and your physical mind is at rest, your subconscious mind comes to the forefront. When this happens, a person is able to astral project. Many people just don?t remember doing it.

You can journey to any desired location when you astral project. You may even have done this as a child as you went to bed, as you grew into adulthood you just forgot how. No time or distance restrictions apply when astral projecting, which makes it possible to travel virtually anywhere. The astral body is what does the traveling when the person's physical body is sound asleep.

Easy Astral Projection Tips For You

For those that are new to astral projecting, a number of stumbling blocks that you need to overcome before you can successfully astral project. First you need to understand that you already have the ability, everyone does. So this isn’t about trying to learn something new, or doing something that isn’t natural. Look at it as something that you have to fine tune, like roller skating, cartwheels, riding a bike. You never forget how to do these activities, when you haven’t done them in a long time you just have to practice. The same holds true for astral projecting.

A lot of people find just relaxing to be a stumbling block on the way to learning astral projection. In order to astral project, youll need to relax both mind and body. There are a number of different techniques which can help you to relax, including breathing techniques and methods of muscle relaxation.

You’ll have a much easier time astral projecting if you are doing this in a relaxed environment. To get relaxed and have the chance of success as you prepare to astral project.

• Start by removing any tight, restrictive clothing and any jewelry. Some people even find taking off their clothes to be helpful when astral projecting, but whatever works for you is the right way to go.
• You want to have a dimly lit room in order to practice astral projection. Not pitch black, but dark enough that when you close your eyes no light gets through.
• With your head pointed north, lie down along a north-south axis. This should be easy to see with the sun rising in the east and setting in the west. So if our of your bedroom window you can see the sunset that means you need to be laying along the window, not with your head or feet pointing towards the window.
